As discussed at the March Body Meeting, the local will be voting
on an allocation for $.30 for a building fund for the new JATC
Lab. This $.30 allocation, if passed, will take place in
September, when the raise comes due. The cost of the new building
for our lab has exceeded the original budget estimate and the
bank has asked the JATC for a $.60 increase in funding to make
the increased loan payments based on the updated budget. Labor
management met and agreed to split the $.60 increase between
IBEW and NECA. The bank agreed to the timing of our upcoming
raise in September. The request is for $.30 per hour of our
September raise, and NECA will contribute a lump sum from LMCC
funds payable monthly as requested by the bank. The reason for
the pre-allocation meeting in April the bank has requested
assurance so the JATC can move forward in financing. This
proposed “building fund” allocation will expire at the end of
this contract and be re-visited in the next negotiated contract.
The intent is to renew both commitments from the local union
and NECA until the building loan is paid off. More discussion
and a vote will be held at the April Body Meeting. Be sure to
come if you have questions
